Poet Biography
Born in Sydney in 1870, Sydney Elliott Napier trained as a solicitor. During the First World War he served with the AIF, which provided the inspiration to write poetry. On returning to Australia Napier worked as a legal officer and freelance journalist. His work includes The Magic Carpet (1932) a collection of biographical sketches and two collections of verse Potted Biographies (1930) and Underneath the Bough (1937). He has written travel accounts and a history of the Sydney Repertory Theatre.
