Herbert Asquith was born in 1881, he was the second son of the first Earl of Oxford and Asquith, Herbert Henry Asquith, British Prime Minister (1908-1916), and often times people would get them confused with one another. Asquith was a poet, novelist and lawyer. He married his wife, Cynthia, in 1910, and she too was a writer. Asquith served in France during World War I. He died in 1947.
