Poet Biography
William Warner, a poet and translater was born around 1558 and was educated in Oxford.
His major works are "Albion 's England," which is a history of the British Isles in fouteen syllable lines, which were very popular in their own time. The first edition (1586) tells the historic tale from Noah through to the Norman conquest, with many mythical episodes. Later editions, (1589/1592) continue the history on to the accessions of Henry VII and Elizabeth, while the 1612 version reaches the rein of James I.
