Lehron se darkar nauka par nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti,
Nanhi cheenti jab daana lekar chalti hai,
chadhti deewaron par, sau bar phisalti hai.
Man ka vishwas ragon mein saahas bharta hai,
chadhkar girna, girkar chadhna na akharta hai.
Akhir uski mehnat bekar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
Dubkiyan sindhu mein gotakhor lagata hai,
ja ja kar khali haath lautkar aata hai.
Milte nahi sahaj hi moti gehre paani mein,
badhta dugna utsah isi hairani mein.
Muthi uski khali har bar nahin hoti,
Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti.
Asaflta ek chunauti hai, ise sweekar karo,
kya kami reh gayi, dekho aur sudhar karo.
Jab tak na safal ho, neend chain ki tyago tum,
Sangharsh ka maidan chhodkar mat bhago tum.
Kuch kiye bina hi jai jaikar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
English translation:
The boat that qualms the waves
Never gets across
The mind that dreads and dares
Has never been at loss
The tiny ant, when it carries the grain
Lays it up into the heights of the wall
Falls slipping a hundred times,
Just as it tries again
The faith in the mind
Stirs courage in the nerves
It soars and slips, then slips and soars again
Until its efforts have not been in vain
The diver who scrounges deep into the oceans
Comes bare in his fist a number of times
It is not so painless
Eachtime he delves to hit upon a pearl
Someday, when out of those deep seas he whirls
And in surprise, that his efforts have brought
Glad, for his fist is not empty everytime
And in him that seamless effort
herald a cheery chime
O’ accept the failures that cross your way
They are just the challenging mile-stones
And build from right here, where you fell
Until all the shortcomings cease,
And you soar in success
Burn restful sleeps in the sacrificial pyres
Until tireless struggles brought smiles of joy
Oh! Do not run away from the battlefields
For triumph always yields such joy
Just after relentless endeavours……….

Analysis:
Lehron se darkar nauka par nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti,
In the 1st stanza the poet starts off by giving an example of a boat and says that a boat which is scared of crossing the waves can never cross them because you should always be confident in what you do. If you will keep on getting afraid, you won’t ever be able to succeed. He says that a person who takes ricks and tries his best will never lose no matter what.
Nanhi cheenti jab daana lekar chalti hai,
chadhti deewaron par, sau bar phisalti hai.
Man ka vishwas ragon mein saahas bharta hai,
chadhkar girna, girkar chadhna na akharta hai.
Akhir uski mehnat bekar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
Now the poet gives us an example of a small ant. An ant takes its grain and climbs the wall to go up to its destination but its comes down all the way slipping down. It again starts its way all the way again but again slips down. No matter how many times does it slip it starts its journey all over again with full determination. It doesn’t lose hope as bravery is in its veins and nerves. The poet says that we should learn something from that small ant that though being small has high determination to reach its destination. He says it’s because it knows that in the end its hard work would pay off.
Dubkiyan sindhu mein gotakhor lagata hai,
ja ja kar khali haath lautkar aata hai.
Milte nahi sahaj hi moti gehre paani mein,
badhta dugna utsah isi hairani mein.
Muthi uski khali har bar nahin hoti,
Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti.
Now he is giving an example of a person who goes to look for pearls in the Indus River. The poet says he goes again and again but most of the times he comes back empty handed . He doesn’t lose hope and goes back again. Sometimes his enthusiasm is lost but he never loses determination and goes back again until he finds some. So he again says that a person who works hard to achieve something never fails.
Asaflta ek chunauti hai, ise sweekar karo,
kya kami reh gayi, dekho aur sudhar karo.
Jab tak na safal ho, neend chain ki tyago tum,
Sangharsh ka maidan chhodkar mat bhago tum.
Kuch kiye bina hi jai jaikar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
Now in the end the poet is advising us to stay determined no matter how many times we lose. He says that we should take our failure as a challenge. We shouldn’t get discouraged and shouldn’t lose hope but we should see that what exactly went wrong and where? He advises us that we shouldn’t stay calm until we succeed and should give up our efforts. He says that praise doesn’t come that easily and one needs to work very hard to make people praise him thus we should keep on trying remembering the fact that the courageous people never fails.
Theme:
The poet advises us to stay all calm and determined towards our goal and shouldn’t lose hope. He says that the one who keeps on trying and doesn’t get discouraged from one failure is the one who will succeed at the end. And what happens at the end is what matters the most.
